BHS Football Parents & Players,

I hope this message find you and your family well. Thank you for your patience as we navigate high school football during this unprecedented time. BHS will resume preparation for the 2020 season on June 1st. I understand KCS has given clearance for high school athletics to begin practice on May 26th however, I believe it to be in the best interest of our players to wait until June 1st for several reasons. First and foremost, we will not have a KOC athletic trainer on campus until June 1st at the earliest. This is of the utmost importance for player safety. Second, there is chance the guidelines/restrictions I was given today will change the week of May 26th which may logistically require us to adjust our plans of implementing workouts & practice.

The schedule for the month of June is as follows and is reflected on the calendar. July and the following months are tentative at this time.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday 7:30am-10:30am
Tuesday & Thursday 7:30am-9:30am

Tuesday & Thursday 9:30am-11:30am
Freshmen are to report daily to the maroon student section of the bleachers and maintain social distancing of 6 feet.

Guidelines/Restrictions for workouts & practice – “Please plan accordingly”

Do not arrive more than 5-10 minutes before practice begins. In order to allow for proper social distancing and cleaning time we must have transition time available.
Temperatures will not be checked prior players entering the building.
If your child is feeling the slightest bit under the weather, they need to stay home.
Only players & coaches will be admitted to the JSAC, no exceptions.
The main double doors closest to the Dog Walk will be the only point of entry/exit.
Players will not have access to the locker rooms or showers.
In the weight room players are encourage to wear a mask but are not required.
Water fountains will not be available.

IMPORTANT – “Needed Daily”

Players are to provide their own water bottle for personal use.
Do not share water bottles.
All new players (including freshmen) that did not participate in winter weight training must bring a copy of their physical in order to participate.
Physicals must be dated within the calendar year. Please refer to the previous email from the booster club about the status of physicals for 2020-2021 school year.
T-shirts/shorts, tennis shoes & cleats will be needed daily.

We have lost 10 weeks of off season preparation. It is of the highest importance that we are maximizing the time available to prepare for the rapidly approaching football season. It is imperative players are eating before and after practice, getting an appropriate amount of rest at night, and are hydrating daily.
We have plenty of disinfect wipes but need Lysol and hand sanitizer. Please contact Coach Shinlever or send supplies with your player if you are willing to donate those items.
Due to the pandemic and its impact on fundraising for the 2020 season we will not be able to providing team cleats for the varsity as we have in years past. We will set up a BSN Team Shop for players to purchase Nike cleats. This is not required but encourage so everyone can look similar. If your player chooses to purchase cleats outside of the BSN Team Shop please purchase predominately white cleats with black trim. No loud colors permitted. More information about the BSN Team shop to come at a later date.

The BHS Football Staff is very grateful for opportunity to return to coaching our young men and this great sport. It is situation like this pandemic that makes us hit the reset button and put life into perspective. With that said, I hope you are excited for football season and know I appreciate your support and understanding.
